SunFlower Quilts February Newsletter

* February 2009 is here. We are in month 2 of celebrating our 5th year anniversary! We can’t believe it is going to be 5 years this year! We want to thank all of you our wonderful customers for making SunFlower Quilts what it is today and thank you for all of your support! We know without our wonderful customers we would not still be here 5 years later! We have some great anniversary specials to announce this year. Don’t forget to look at the bottom of this newsletter for a special anniversary coupon to use during February! During each month of 2009, we will be offering a different anniversary coupon, so be sure and check your monthly newsletter. You must present your coupon in order to get the special of the month.

* That Quilter Donna Warnement will NOT be here the first Tuesday in February. Her husband Bill had a medical emergency over the weekend and she is not sure when she will be able to get to the shop in February. However; I have a meeting in Texas City Monday Feb. 2, so I will be stopping by Donna’s on the way back to Houston to pick up quilts she was scheduled to bring on Tuesday Feb.3rd. If there is a quilt ready for you, she will contact you. You can still bring your tops to the shop for Donna to quilt, (we will make sure she gets them) or pick up a quilt that is ready from Donna, or just come for the fun show and tell of all the beautiful quilts! * SunFlower Quilts Mystery Quilt Club You can register for our new mystery Block of the Month Club. All of the information is ready. Come by the shop, call, or go to the SunFlower Quilts web site to learn more about the club. We are very excited about this new club! The quilt was designed by Debbie Caffrey called “Treasure Hunt” and we are going to have lots of fun in this club! The Mystery club is open to all walk in customers only, sorry it is not available for internet customers as requested by Debbie Caffrey. We would love for you to participate in our new club! * Our next Charm School is Saturday February 21st at 9am sharp! Remember if you pre pay by February 14th you receive 5% off. If you don’t pre pay for the Charm School Project Pack we can’t guarantee there will be one left for you as we have a limited number of extra packs. You can get all the info and register for Charm School on the web site or come by the shop to register! We learned some good tips about working with charm squares at the August, October and December Charm Schools. You can see December’s charm school quilt on the home page of our web site. The February project Charm pack will contain 121 charm squares and cost $34.99. Remember if you pre pay your cost for the Charm pack it will be $33.24 with your 5% discount. There is also a registration fee of $5 plus tax to receive the pattern and tip sheet. Get ready to learn lots about using 5” Charm squares! We are going to have sew much fun! Let us know if you have any questions. It’s fun to be “Charming” in 2009.

* Idea Saturday: Our next “Idea Saturday” will be Saturday March 21st, 2009 at 9am sharp! Come by and we will share at least 5 ideas and have free instructions for each idea! We will have refreshments as well! You can get the instructions free at 9am; if we have any “Idea Saturday” booklets left after the session, they will be $5. See you January 17th as we start our 4th year of “Idea Saturday”!

* Block of the Month Kits for the Garden Friends BOM are ready January 25th and February 25th.

* New Fabrics: We just received some great Civil War fabrics from Marcus Brothers, Baum and Windham. A cute children’s line called “Angel Houses” by Henry Glass. Keep checking as we are expecting lots more fabric this month! Laurel Burch “Secret Jungle”; Marsha McKloskey “Staples” 25 bolts of beautiful tone on tones; “Critter Jamboree” a very cute children’s line of storybook animals.

* Ovarian cancer awareness and research update: The sew in on January 18th was a great success! Thanks to all the volunteers who came and thanks to everyone who made a block! The quilts turned out great! We made over 40 tops. We still need your help; we need quilters to quilt all these tops! If you can just take one please let us know, we have volunteers to do the binding! Please contact us or one of the other shops in the Wild Wild West Shop Hop and let’s work together to get theses done for MD Anderson! We have until July 2009 to have them done. For more info you can contact us or MD Anderson at www.mdanderson.org/departments/ovarianquilt. Last Spring’s online auction that MD Anderson sponsored was a wonderful success!! The quilts and all of the wonderful hands and creative juices that made them made $11,440! Let’s see if we can raise $22,000 for next year’s auction! I know we can do it.
