*Do you believe its July!: I can’t believe its July already! We are in the midst of the hot days of summer, why not take a quilt class, start a new project or get started on those Christmas gifts!
*New SunFlower Quilts Blog: Go to sunflower-quilts.blogspot.com and check out our new blog! I’m new at this so bear with me, but it’s sew much fun! Check it out and leave a comment!
*New Block of the Month starting July 25th 2008! We are finished with our new BOM called Flower Garden, (check it out on the web site) and learn all the details including cost etc. You can sign up for the new BOM through the web site or come in the shop! It looks so much better in person! You are going to love it and it was so much fun to make!
*Christmas in July Open House: We have so many wonderful Christmas fabrics we have decided to have a Christmas in July Open House. Mark the dates Friday July 25th and Saturday July 26th (Fri and Sat only) during regular store hours. We will have lots of samples to give you inspiration and get those Christmas projects started! We will have special savings on Christmas merchandise July 25 and 26 only, so come by for some Christmas cheer!
*Idea Saturday: Saturday July 19, 2008 at 9am sharp! Come by and we will share at least 5 ideas and have free instructions for each idea! We will have refreshments as well! You can get the instructions free at 9am; if we have any “Idea Saturday” booklets left they will be $5. See you July 19!
*SunFlower Quilts would like to extend an invitation to morning or afternoon bees or small groups to meet here at the shop. Let us know if you need a place to meet and we can see if the shop is the right fit for your group!

*New Books and Notions: We are carrying Quilting Arts Magazine, Quilts and More, And Fons and Porters new Easy Quilts Magazine. We have lots of new books for charms, jelly rolls, fat ¼’s and just about everything else to make a quilt! We have new patterns for quilts, clothes, home dec items and even stuffed animals. Notions, Marti Michell’s new templates called Kaleidoscope ruler in 2 sizes, Setting triangle rulers in 2 sizes, and 2 ½” Strippers rulers. We are also carrying Misty Fuse fusible, Steam a Seam 2 in regular and light 24” wide. The bendable light just came in and we only have 8 left! They are $49.99 each,
*Upcoming Classes: Check our classes’ page! We’ve added some more new classes! We added a new date for the Basic Rotary Cutting class we will limit the class to 4 students maximum, the date is Monday July 21st from 9-11am or 2-4pm. Several spots left for the Beginner’s Delectable Mountains class. 3 spaces left for the French Braid class. Several spaces left for the Uptown Downtown class. The Beginner’s sampler ribbon block class is full but the others have several spaces.
*Ovarian cancer awareness and research update: The online auction that MD Anderson was a wonderful success!! The quilts and all of the wonderful hands and creative juices that made them made $11,440! Lets see if we can raise $22,000 for next year’s auction! I know we can do it. All proceeds go for Ovarian Cancer Research, www.mdanderson.org/departments/ovarianquilt. We are asking our customers to please make at least 1 – 12 ½” unfinished block and bring or mail to the shop by December 31st. We will then have a joint sew in at our church January 18th (Sunday) 2009 from 2-8pm and put all the blocks into quilt tops. Then we will ask for volunteers to quilt and bind them and turn in the completed quilts to the shop or MD Anderson by July 15th 2009. The quilts will then be auctioned online in October 2009. Lets see how much money we can all raise for MD Anderson again with the quilts! For more info you can contact us or MD Anderson at the above web site.
*Charm School details are getting worked out! We will have more information ready in the next few weeks! We plan on starting Charm School in July so get ready to learn lots about using 5” squares! We already have 12 quilts planned and lots of tricks for using charm squares! Registration will begin in July!
*That Quilter Donna Warnement will be here the 1st Tuesday July 1st from 10am – noon. Come bring your tops for quilting or pick one up that’s been quilted. Come for show and tell you will be inspired seeing all the quilts! Donna does beautiful work; you will be pleased with her quilting expertise!
*Block of the Month Kits: May Sunbonnet Sue BOM kits will be ready July 15th.
*The Thimbleberries Club will meet Thursday July 10th from 6-7pm OR Sunday July 13th from 2-3pm.
*We will be CLOSED Friday July 4th and Saturday July 5th in observance of the 4th of July Holiday. We hope everyone has a safe and Happy July 4th! Thank you for all of your support, we wouldn’t be here without you!
