February is upon us! Boy where did January go! 1 month is already gone in 2008.
Upcoming Classes: The Itty Bitty Broken Star Quilt class. Two night classes Feb. 21 and March 6, 2008, there is 1 space left. If you can cut accurately and sew on a drawn line, you will succeed making this quilt. Taught by Marilyn Boismier. Check the classes page on the web site, as we will be adding more classes! We are so blessed to have some great teachers! You not only learn specific techniques but also learn many tips and make new friends that can last a lifetime and its just good fun! We will be adding more classes after our move.
Ovarian cancer awareness and research update! Go to our web site for all the info for the Ovarian Cancer Awareness campaign. The online auction that MD Anderson is handling will be in March 26th – April 9th 2008! If you have a top that you have quilted please return it by Mid Feb. 2008. You don’t have to bind it, we can do that for you. On Monday January 28th, I had the honor of delivering 32 completed, gorgeous quilts from all the shops participating to MD Anderson. They were so excited in receiving all those quilts! MD Anderson will display the finished quilts prior to the auction at the Lowry and Peggy Mays Clinic; West Lobby, Level 2 in the main building; Level 2 in the park. Here is your opportunity to view the beautiful quilts that were made for this wonderful initiative. For more info call 713.792.2795. After viewing the quilts it will be hard to decide which one to bid on!! Thanks to everyone who has helped in this wonderful campaign!
All the shops will be involved again with MD Anderson in the Quilt Teal campaign. Blank textiles have designed 7 new Ovarian Cancer Teal fabrics for us and will be available in late March. We will once again have a sew-in to put all the blocks together into tops in late September 2008. That Quilter Donna Warnement will be here the 1st Tuesday, February 5th from 10am – noon. Come bring your tops for quilting or pick one up that’s been quilted. Come for show and tell, you will be inspired seeing all the quilts! Donna does beautiful work; you will be pleased with her quilting expertise!
Block of the Month Kits January Sunbonnet Sue BOM kits are ready; the February kits will be ready February 15th. The January Flower of the month kits are ready; the February Flower of the month kits will be ready February 28th.
New Fabrics Moda’s new Bluebonnet line is here and going fast! They did a great job on this new line! Come see it. We just received Moda’s new line by Sentimental Studios called Laurel, we have the whole line it is gorgeous! We also have new Valentine’s fabric from Moda and RJR fabrics, as well as some fun colorful new fabrics from Blank textiles. Lots of new tone on tones from Benartex.
The Thimbleberries Club will meet Thursday February 7th from 6-7pm or Sunday February 10th from 2-3pm. It’s not too late to join. Come and visit at one of the meetings if you would like to. We have lots of fun!
