September 2007 Newsletter
September is here, school has started and we are heading into the fall season, my favorite! Time to get those sewing projects started or finished.
The shop will be closed on Monday September 3rd for the Labor Day Holiday.
The Moda U Mystery Postcard BOM Club held the last meeting in August. If you were in the club and have not received your final block, please come by and pick up your bonus 13th block plus the finishing kit all for $8.00!
The Flower of the Month BOM kits are ready.
We just started a new Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam embroidered Block Of the Month on July15th. It is a 14-month BOM. It’s not too late to join! Look for more information on our Block of the Month page. There is a signup sheet and a detailed information sheet for the BOM. We now carry Best Press Starch Spray and Linen water. This is good stuff!!
Check the class schedule page of the web site, new classes are listed and we will continue to add classes every month, so keep checking! We are now offering "Quilting À la Carte", our way of letting you select which classes you want to take.
Ovarian cancer awareness and research! Don’t forget to donate a 12 ½” predominately teal unfinished block to any of the 9 participating shops thru mid September. We will have a joint sew in on September 23rd from 2 – 8 pm ( see directions to sew in) involving all 9 shops and all sewers, quilter’s etc. to put all of the blocks into quilt tops to be donated on the MD Anderson auction site! We are so excited that our shop has received 131 blocks and 2 beautiful tops already!! Come by and see them. Go to our web site for all the info for the Ovarian Cancer Awareness campaign. We have the best customers and most caring customers and feel so blessed!
If you plan on coming to the sew-in, please let us know what you would like to do, whether it is sewing, pressing, cutting, food help, runners, designers etc.! Don’t worry, we will have a spot for you. The shops will provide the meat and if our volunteers would please bring a side dish or desert, we can have an old-fashioned potluck supper! You can come by the shop or email what you would like to do! We are so excited about the 131 blocks so far. You all have been the best!
Our Annual Fat ¼ Sale is coming the 2nd Saturday of October on October 13, 2007 from 9am – 4pm. All fat ¼”s will be $1.25!!
Lots of new fabrics! New fabrics from Free Spirit called Barefoot Roses, a great floral line of pinks and greens in florals, dots and stripes. Christmas is coming and we have some new wonderful lines. A new Christmas line from Clothworks called Santa’s Got the Goods. We also have gotten in some 108” wide Batiks for backings. You will want to see Moda’s Shimmer fabrics, and Quilt Pink 2. Check them out at our online shop. From RJR Thimbleberries: Mr. Halloween's Party, as well as Sangria Sunset and Wiggles and Giggles!
Come by and see all the new jelly roll and charm pack books and patterns! We have a lot of new fabric arriving in September, so keep checking with us.
Kits - We have lots of new kits for the quilts 5& Dime, Turning 20 Again and Super Sipmple Strips, Yellowbrick Road. Come see them!
That Quilter Donna Warnement will be here the 1st Tuesday September 4, 2007 from 10am – Noon. Bring your quilt tops for quilting or come pick yours up, or just come to see all the beautiful quilts, it’s a wonderful show and tell, you will be inspired!
Idea Saturday is the 3rd Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 9am sharp! Come by for at least 5 ideas. We would love for you to come and get Ideas for some great projects we know you will enjoy making and sharing. We would love to hear your ideas too! Logan will have his famous egg tortillas and orange juice for refreshments!
The Thimbleberries Club will meet Sunday September 9 from 2-3pm or Friday September 14 from 6-7pm.
